A minor, possibly insignificant point:

There is no BSA "policy" excluding known homosexuals from the
organization, though there is a position statement that asserts that
homosexuals are unsuitable as leaders on the basis of the example they
set. In court cases where plaintiffs sought for the court to injoin the
BSA to reinstate them, the terminology "avowed homosexual" was used and was
consistently interpreted by the court to refer to persons who
participated in or promoted homosexual behavior. As far as I know, the
BSA has yet to lose such a case.
