At Troop 16 we generally do not provide financial support for the Eagle
project. In fact this question has not come up anytime in the last 10
years. We do however, feel it is the Troop's obligation to conduct the
Court of Honor, both to recognize the Scout, and to provide an
inspirational example to other boys in the troop to complete their Eagle.
We stage a rather elaborate ceremony. We will pay $50 towards the
cake/refreshments at the reception. We pay for the badges, for a binder
(with custom engraved plaque) with all the congratulatory letters, etc.
We pay the $10 initial 5 year NESA membership fee. This all adds up to
about $125 per Eagle. Also, we offer all Eagles a 'free' ride on our
annual BWCA canoe trip or other high adventure.
