Re: Pack Problems...

A.A.M. (lish@ACCESS.MOUNTAIN.NET)

I decided to try to respond here because I've received so many private
messages my fingers are getting tired.

I can't thank you all enough for the response. After a while you being
to thing you're the one with the problem and some positive feedback helps
a lot.

This is not a new problem for me. I had some trouble with the CubMaster
last year too. We've all been through basic traing, PowWows, and
Roundtables. I just don't think I got across clearly enough that the CM
and ACM's children are the worst in the group. And both Webelos. They
aren't expected to act properly so why would anyone expect the rest in
the dens to? At the last Pack Meeting I was so proud of my boys. They
sat through the meeting. When the CubMaster/WebII Leader did her
awards..her boys were around her in a circle like hungry puppies.
Grabbing, hollering. You couldn't see their faces, hear her, or see any
awards they got. My boys went up, stood to the audience, received their
awards. My 3 new boys got their BobCats and I was able to get pictures
of each of them for my Den Achievement Board. During snack they sat and
ate as they should have. (am I gloating?..pardon me :) )

Anyway, since I posted the first frantic post, I've talked to the
CubMaster again. She said maybe the pack should pay for the scooters,
she'd condsider that. I'm going to suggest the apologies letters and
possibly even a pack service project for our school of some kind. But,
there was a comment made in that phone conversation that I can't
tolerate. She is a brash woman as it is and I've learned to accept that
but she was commenting on how bad one of her Webs was at the meeting last
night..How he was uncontrollable..Ragged on him very bad..but she then
commented that she told him.."If you don't straighten your a** up, I'm
going out and getting your mother." Well, I'm sorry, but I don't talk to
children this way. I don't talk to my son this way. How can I expect to
teach my boys anything if they hear this from their CubMaster? I just am
sick to my stomach.

I honestly don't want to leave my boys. I've got a bond with them and
I've learned a lot about myself getting to know them.

I'm not a confrontational person. I'm not one to just tell her the way
it is. Or to report her. I am sure there will be questions asked if I
leave the pack. And if parents wish to ask me specifics they will have
to ASK, I won't volunteer them. But, I just don't know what else to do.
Maybe I'll change my mind after my den meeting next week. But at this
point I just want to find another Pack and be done with it. I'd gladly
help another Leader.

Sorry to ramble again. This is eating at me. Thank you all so much for
the feedback.
