That is also correct. Since they are registered as ASM's, they are not
registered as MC (member of committee). That's what the "letter of the
law" says. In fact, we call it the parents' committee and the most
involved parents are the ASM's (see below).

In the past, our ASM's have often attended committee meetings. However,
I have learned to give up some of the things I've done it the past to my
assistants, and we started having monthly meetings last year. At that
time, I indicated to them that they should consider the committee meetings
as optional and need not attend, since I am asking for more of their time
elsewhere in the operation of the troop. They are of course, free to attend
anyway, and they do, just not as frequently as before.

And yes, as Scoutmaster, I do attend the parents' committee meetings. I
am the communications link between the committee and the boy leaders and
it's up to me to get the parents' support for the PLC's plans. At tonight's
PLC meeting, they came up with some very creative thinking that I am looking
forward to taking to the parents next week.
