Re[2]: Hats - and, MY! How times change

Is this ALL Yanks or only city Yanks? I'm a rural Yank and have
traveled a fair amount in the South (driving a truck or bus for
Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps from Rockford IL) and have
been impressed and most appreciative by the "Southern
hospitality" I've always heard about.

I think city Yanks might be surprised at how nice rural Yanks
might be to them, also.

I'm proud, as Hugh obviously is, to live in the South, where manners still
matter to some, but sadly, not all.

On this subject, sort of, did you happen to see the article in the October
29, 1996 Wall Street Journal, about how Yankees who move to to South resent
it when Southerners are nice to them? They can't figure it out. It must be
awful to live somewhere where it irritates you when some is polite to you.

Living south of the Mason-Dixon line and grateful for it.
