If it were in my troop (as a scoutmaster) I would have the boy take it
home and clean it himself. If its salvageable, then so be it.
I would also let the parents know what's going on, and the their son
messed up. Let them know that HE (not them) needs to clean it. Then, if
the tent is ruined, or never gets taken care of, I would suggest to the
Troop Committee that a portion of that boy's account should be used to
buy a new tent. Not all of it, but some. Maybe up to half of it.
