Old Tents

Hi All
Regarding the discussions on tents, I have a diffrent
question which has no easy answer.
I have an old timberline (about 20 years old) which
has no waterproofing value left in it.
After a camping trip, it was put in the bag wet and
about a month later, it came out full of mold.
(This is very bad for a tent.)
Simple solution was to wash it in water and some sort of
detergent. (Bad Idea)
Trying to coat it with Recoat 2 left it a sticky- gummy
mess. The Recoat 2 was removed and now it is natural
nylon (No waterproofing). The whole tent is like the
part under the fly, water goes through.
Anybody out there know how to repair this?
Has anybody fixed these sort of problems?
Kenyon said New Tent Time. Others refer to them and
I haven't received a fix that works.
Thanks for any help.
