Boundary Waters Tips

Last night I ran into our SM at WalMart (we have a supportative one here
locally) and he told me the troop had received notice of acceptance for a
trip to Boundary Waters High Adventure Camp for July 1997. Since I had
passed info on to him last year about Pilmont which was very helpful (in
addition to other tips I gleem periodically from SCOUTS-L), he asked if I
could seek the Lists' wisdom about trips to take, things to take for the
journey, preparations,, planning, etc.
The boys going have been on a couple of 25-30 mile canoe trips, but nothing
more extensive than that. So this will be a real challenge for them.
Especially since none of them have ever had to portage. Most of our rivers
here in South Texas meander, instead of flowing swiftly.
Please e-mail to me privately, and I will compile and submit to the List later.
Thanks in advance,
Steve Lamkin
