ABS Canoes

golden cliff (c60clg1@CORN.CSO.NIU.EDU)

I purchased 6 used Indian Head canoes for my troop last weekend. Is there
anyone out there with knowledge of this company? I know it no longer
exists. The canoes look like pretty good ones. They are 17 footers, made
of Royalex, and similar in design to the "Old Town Tripper" model canoe.

One of my Scouts asked what the ABS in ABS canoes meant. I thought for a
moment and then told him it meant "anti-lock braking system" or
"always be safe" or "the canoe doubles as an excersize machine for your
midsection". He didn't accept any of those explanations, so I promised him I
would find out.

What does ABS stand for? It seems I knew at one time, but I can't remember.
