Hi Peter, I very much agree with Bill here. Two years ago I help start
up a dead troop by bringing in the best Webelos den in central
Oklahoma. Our goal was to take the four older boys left in the Troop
and build a good boy run troop.
Well the older boys wanted no part of running a troop. Their ages
ranged from 15 to 17 years old and all they wanted was to get an eagle
and move on.
So we started where you are at and now we have a pretty good PLC with
12 and 13 year olds. Their is still problems but we take it one day at
a time and build on the experiences.
At this time last year we had 19 registered Scouts in the Troop, now
we have almost 60. Last week we had 25 Webelos visit our Troop and we
not sure what we are going to do if they select us to join. But we
must provide some need because we are one of the fastest growing
Troops in the District.
Like Bill said, work at it one piece at a time, and you will have the
same GOOD PROBLEMS of "what are we going to do with all these new
Scouts?"
After going through it once, I envy you.
