Of course, this varies from country to country. I now know that this badge
(patch) is worn on the right pocket of the unifrom in the BSA...
However, if anyone ever came to Australia, or was visited by a Australian
who had earned this, at least in the Cub Section, (and in the other
sections, except Joesy Scouts who dont earn badges) they would find the
World Conservation Badge (patch) sewn on the Child's right sleve. They would
be able to wear this for the whole time they are in Cubs (so if they earnt
it at 8, they could leave it on their Cub uniform untill they went into Scouts).
Likewise in the Scout Section, once they have earnt the badge, they wear it
on their right slevee for the time they are in Scouts. When they advance up
to Venturers, if they like, they can earn it again, at the Venuture leval
and wear it for time they are in Venturers.
As you might have gathered by now, the World Conservation badge is a world
wide badge. And depeniding on the country you are depends on where it is
worn and for how long. Here in Australia, once you have earnt it in a
particular section, they you wear it. Permanantly. Pewrsonally, I feel that
they should. I have no idea about the requirements about anywhere else, but
a Cub really has to earn this badge and therefore it should remain on their
unifrom. It is one of the more challanging badges we have for Cubs
(although, with the new award scheme in place here, there are others the
kids really have to work for as well). When it is done, it is also generally
done as a pack effort. It easily takes 4 weeks to do. Not all meeting every
meeting of course, but it can certainly be a good program filler.
I hope now that someone (besides me) has learnt something new about the
world conservation badge :-) :-) :-)
