Concerning overhelpful parents of derby car makers:
In our pack, we had a parent's race. This allowed the boys (in theory) to
work on their cars and the parent to work on their own. The "big kids"
competed after the boys were finished. And a good time was had by all.
The adult car that got the most interesting response was powered by a CO2
cartridge! The first time "down" the track I don't think it even touched
most of it! The second time down it finished in about 3.5 seconds (memory is
the 2nd thing to go...)
Needless to say, that car has made for many good stories :) !!!
