Scouting Spirit among leaders

Hi all.
I couldn't let a prime example of A & B (above and beyond) go by unheralded.
Due to a number of coincidental community activities this weekend (not the
worst problem to have, I suppose) we were short on adult leadership for the
fall camporee
in our district. I had been chatting with George Hutcheson of Cedar Falls,
Tr. 42,
and he offered to share leadership with our unit so we could attend.
Now for the fun part...
After we had registered, and bought the food, and done all the planning, our
Scoutmaster (that is why I am only a lowly ASM, you know) called me and
asked me if George and I were aware that there were several fall camporees
scheduled that weekend in different locations. My quick response was
"Huh?" I called George to find ask him. His first response was also "Huh?"
It did seem that we were both heading to separate camporees about forty miles
apart expecting to find the other there waiting.
Less than an hour later, George phoned and told me he would come anyway,
and we had a wonderful time. My Scouts were privileged to have the benefit
of Georges humor and experience. This was properly commemorated by a
certificate to George and I she dubbed the Wrong Way Corrigan Memorial Award
(Which way did they go, which way did they go??????) which was presented at
the main hall.
