Dear Scouters,
I need to tap this resource for information. Last week I was asked by
the Cub roundtable chair to give a talk during this Thursdays roundtable.
The subject is: From a Boy Scout leaders perspective - what can Webelos
den leaders do to help the boys (and their parents) have a smoother
transition to Boy Scouts. I will have 15 minutes during the Webelos
leader breakout session. I will compile these ideas for a handout for
future reference.
Some of the ideas mentioned to me were:
Encourage them to use Den chiefs
Encourage den chiefs to talk about troop activities
Start troop visits early (..Nov. for Mar./April crossover )
Let boys and parents know troops are run differently ( ie.. boy run,
patrol method etc.)
Have den participate with troops at camporee's
Any help will be appreciated...
Thanks,
Rick Neff rln@psulias.psu.edu
