Re: Eagle Requireds (Merit Badges)

I think what he was getting at is that the Eagle Application must be
checked to see that the correct number of required badges were earned for
each rank. In other words, if 4 requireds must be earned for Star, you
can't overlook one and let it go with 3, using one of the non-requireds to
make the total. This can be done at the council level and possibly be
unnoticed. However, when the Eagle Application is checked, if the date of
the 4th required badge is AFTER the Star date, there is a major problem!
The National Office now checks these dates, so local councils are expected
to do so as well. This was a hole in the advancement system which now has
been plugged.
