I put one on my trunks, then grew out of them. By the third patch, I had a
drawer full of patches that I used for neckerchief slides in a pinch. The
Mile Swim patch was the ideal size -- with a safety pin backing, it made a
perfect slide. I could keep them looking better, and they didn't get mucked
up in the pool and lake.
Later I lifeguarded for the University of Utah at the natatorium. One of our
requirements was to do a mile swim weekly. Wish I coulda got a patch for
each one of those swims. I've needed neckerchief slides on several occasions
that I yearned to have one of those patches handy . . .
