We have annual dues of $50 per Scout. This includes registration for
the boy and a parent (or two), plus Boy's Life and insurance. We also
provide all insignia for the uniform when he joins (most folks forget
the 75-year bar and forget to leave space for it, so we try to have
them hold off until we provide it, but some boys are so excited they
can't wait to wear that 24!).
When we revitalized the program a few years back, the cost of badges
etc., became significant. Rather than raising the dues, we instituted
a troop fundraising program (wreath sales). For the first case, we
split the profits about 40-60 with the Scout, and as he sells more,
he gets a higher and higher percentage. That has allowed us breathing
room and the ability to offer scholarships in case of need.
It also allows us now to cover all adult fees, including training,
when requested.
