Adminstative: Politics and Other Stuff

Hi folks ...

Just a few words here. Politics is a lot like religion ... everyone's
got opinions including me. Lets keep the political posting via
private email.

On other subjects, just the normal reminders:

- Try and use private email when and where ever appropriate
(this includes things like "Thanks", "Welcomes", "I Agrees",
"Congratulations", etc)

- Generally dont quote messages, if you feel you must, then user
your editor

- Use the scout law as guidelines when posting

On a technical note, the network called "bitnet" is beginning to
disappear. Our main bitnet connection, UTA, is pulling out beginning
Oct 1. We are trying to find a connection until December when TCU
will probably quit running bitnet.

What does this mean to you??? A good number of the distribution of
postings that are sent by the listserv travel down a bitnet link until
it finds the closest internet link to the ultimate email destination.
This was all done for effeciency sake. As downline sites leave
bitnet, this can cause email files to stop until connections are
remade. This can cause delay in folks receiving their SCOUTS-L
postings. Eventually, all distribution will be handled locally.

Second problem is if you have subscribed to SCOUTS-L using a bitnet
email address, you will need to unsubscribe from the bitnet address
and subscribe using an internet address. If you are using a
standard internet address, you are not effected.

If you have any problems with the bitnet side, just email me
privately and I'll try and give you a hand.

Thanks for listening.
