It's been mentioned here that many hate groups have
used the Confederate flag as a banner. This is true.
It has been said that it is a symbol of hatred & slavery.
That is NOT what is was originally for.
Just a bit of trivia:
The Confederate flag everyone is discussing is NOT the
official flag of the Confederate States of America (CSA).
The official flag was too much like the Stars & Stipes for
the generals to determine whose troops were whose. Therefore,
the "Battle Flag" was born. The Star & Bars represent the
soldiers!
About 80,000 confederate soldiers were African Americans!
Yes, I was surprised by this too. A recent interview in the
Vicksburg Evening Post (MS) was with a black man whose
grandfather was a slave & a confederate soldier. His
grandfather was very proud of his role in defending his
home. Seems that the Yankees burned slave homes as well
as plantation owners' homes.
So, in actuality, the Stars & Bars represent brave black
men who fought also.
It's a shame that the idiots in white hate groups have
adopted the flag as there own. They don't have the brains
to even understand its history!
