Sounds as though you have quite a problem, parents who are overacheivers at
the expense of the sons ! Scouting is not a extracirricular activity. It is
an integral part of life. We just make it so much fun that it appears to be
an activity. I have watched over the 42 years I have been involved as boys
grow up from a week at summer camp, a Philont trek, etc. I have also watched
as scout9ing becomes a drag as parent push too hard for thier boys to
advance. Wheb they make it a place to live out dad's ideals, it becomes
another place to please the parents. I really get afraid when it is used as
a punishment. Rewsentment starts to kick in and the boy uses it as a stick
against the parent in return.
