Hi Folks!
For those of you who may be having trouble, one said recently that a few
parents were grounding kids from scouts for any number of reasons. (I'm
sorry, I'm no good at names but remember themes rather well.) I suggest,
you take a certain article in this months scouting magazine and make as many
xerox copies as you have families in your pack or troop or post or whatever.
It gives the results of the study on how scouting is a positive influence on
boys. And, how boys who spend at least five years or more in scouting
participate in vastly smaller percentages of any number of dangerous
activities that all parents are trying to avoid. One council used the study
to get back their United Way Funding which had been cut. It is a really
good article. While it doesn't tell those of us who are involved much of
anything new, it probably would open more than a few parent's eyes. (You
know the ones who drop off the kids and you never see them again!) Some
units have even used it to increase scout membership, and recruit leaders.
We all know we never seem to have enough hands.
As an aside to those of you who have been wondering...I finally got my car
back from the garage. And, I have a wonderful new VCR. And, hey only seven
more months before husband comes home. Then we are off to Kentucky!
