We have created a tradition in our Pack. We invite OA members to be the
presenters at our Arrow of Light/Crossover ceremony. It's very dramatic
and they do a great job! They come in their chosen Native American
dress, the lights are lowered, and everyone is quiet and attentive (rare
combination for most Pack events).
The Arrow of Light and Crossover are separate ceremonies preformed at the
same Pack meeting, but they flow from one to the other. We do this
because some boys don't choose to join a Troop at this time and having a
transition between the two ceremonies prevents the awkwardness that is
inevitable. We haven't had a problem with any boy not earning AOL.
I know not everyone out there agrees, but we do these ceremonies in
March, not at Blue & Gold. We want this to be special and to have the
meeting focus on them. Our B&G is a time to focus on all of the families
and to celebrate the events of the year. Just my opinion. . .
