Jan,
A few days ago you asked some questions about Jamboree On The Air (JOTA),
which will be held October 19-20, 1996. The September Scouting magazine
has a good short article on JOTA under News Briefs. JOTA offers a great
opportunity for Scouts from around the world to chat with each other and
helps foster an understanding that we are all part of a World Brotherhood
of Scouting.
Some Councils/Districts that have a Council/District camporee that
weekend will have a Ham Radio Post or local ham group set up their rigs
as part of the camporee. In other areas you'll find Scouts being invited
to a club site, a Post's home base, etc. Any Scout can participate.
For more information about Scouting and Ham Radio, one of the best
sources is Troop 319's web page: http://www.ecllc.com/bsa319/ham.htm
They have links to other ham sites as well.
