Alternative uses of film canisters

With as many other choices that are safer for storing food products
why risk using film canisters?
The health problems that could arise from the use of film canisters
for food are probably minimal, but they do exist. Exposing yourself to
that hazard is one issue, but exposing the youth and others we
interact with is another.
If the issue is re-use of these canisters most photofinishers recycle
them to Kodak or whoever their supplier is. Many years ago I saw a
list of uses of these canisters, I would like to see how many creative
non-food uses the list can come up with.
They are great for holding small quantities of paint for models.
