BSA Mission Statement

Why are you re-inventing the wheel, Don??? The BSA's Mission Statement,
which is found in the front cover of the Scoutmasters' Handbook (I don't
have one handy; hey Mike Bowman, can you please find it and post it here?
Thanks!) is really suitable for a unit's mission statement, with the
addition of the identity of the unit and community.

That's hard to do in light of the BSA's Religious Declaration of Principle,
which can incite some contriversy (and let's NOT talk about it here....it's
something that unfortunatly we collectively cannot come to a grip on!!).
How about something that addresses "diverse feelings or opinions" of your
unit's membership instead? That goes a longer way in including ALL members of
your unit and their families.
