Let's start from the bottom and work up.

There's not an "official" Web page for the Jamboree, but there is a web
page developed by the folks over on the Jamboree97 discussion group.
Don Tobin manages the pages and Doug Gentry the list. Here's the last good
URL that I have for the Jamboree '97 pages:

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
"Introducing the first homepage on the 'net (I've been told) dedicated to the
1997 National Jamboree.

http://w3.trib.com/~dont/scouting/jambo97.html

At the present time, some of us are working on trying to make all of the
Jamboree Information available in all possible electronic formats, including
a basic set Jamboree FAQ's. However, in the meantime, my Jambo 97 Homepage,
may help answer some very basic questions, like when and where, and who may
be going that might have some info to help.

If you are involved in anyway with the 1997 National Jamboree, as staff, in
your Council or as a unit attending, even if you are just applying for a
position, let me know and I'll include you in my Who's Who on the Trail to
the 1997 National Jamboree. Comments, suggestions, and corrections should be
sent to:

dont@trib.com"

(you can also post to the Jamboree 97 discussion group).

To answer your questions on leadership, it would be better for you to get a
broader range of Scouters that are actively involved like yourself in the
Jamboree....you might want to repost your question to the Jambo97 discussion
group.

Here's the information on how to subscribe to the Jambo97 discussion group:

"The Jambo97 list is for Scouters who have an interest in the 1997 National
Jamboree, being held from July 28 - August 6, 1997, at Fort A.P. Hill in
Virginia. If you have responsibilities on a council Jamboree committee,
are interested or going as an adult leader with your council contingent,
want to or have worked on the Jamboree staff, or just have questions about
the Jamboree, this is the place for you.

We members of the list do not have the final word on Jamboree or BSA
policy. For that you should talk to the appropriate people in your council.

This list is to provide support to us all as we prepare for another
lifetime-of-memories event for our Scouts.

Many, many thanks to Webelos Den Leader, Mike Brininstool, a network
engineer at Internex here in California. Mike and I met on an evening walk
during our camporee, got to talking, and here we are. He has graciously
agreed to provide the space and knowhow for this list. If you need ISDN
Internet access in California, talk to Mike. He can be reached directly at
mikepb@hoplite.org.

Comments, concerns, and questions are always welcome. Please contact me,
Doug Gentry, at dwgentry@netcom.com or by phone 510-654-1837.

Happy Scouting!

Message from the mailing list admin (Mike Brininstool):

To post to the list, send email to jambo97@hoplite.org.
Any technical list questions should be directed to me, mikepb@hoplite.org,
and any BSA issues to the list or to Doug (dwgentry@netcom.com)."

Hope this information will be of benefit to not just you, but many others
that are just now getting notified that they will be heading up, assisting,
or providing valuable staff assistance to the 97 National Scout Jamboree!!

And Congrats on your appointment!!
