I can't speak for the Boy Scout community, but in our Girl Scout Council we
emphasize that service is something you perform for others WITHOUT being
paid for it. If you know in advance that there may be a *donation*, then
you wouldn't be able to call it true service. If, after the fact, whomever
you provided service to gave you something that you didn't expect at all,
AND all of the Scouts had just performed the service out of the goodness of
their hearts without any reward in mind (other than a good feeling), then I
might be inclined to call it service.

Another sticky subject....how big is this festival? Really large with a
*Beer Garden* in another area? If so, then this is probably OK. On the
small side with just a separate small area serving liquor....I'd think a
long time on this one. Usually your own judgement can answer this one.
Would you, as an outside observer, see ANY connection between the Scouts and
the beer? If so, no matter how remote, then I'd once again rule it out.
Since you are asking, you have probably already seen a connection that could
be made...otherwise your doubts wouldn't have surfaced. <g>
Once again, these are just my opinions. I'm sure you will get many others.
Good luck in your decisions, and let us know what you decide.
