What's New at the Tree?

Here's what's new before I leave from the River Valley city:
(Last updated 25 July1996)
With about a week or so left until I leave for Europe and a military mission
I'm looking forward to yet am a little fearful of, I've concentrated this
last week or so trying to finish up on the projects which I started a while
back and just haven't sat down and completed. Some of them are still not
finished, but keep coming back to my site and please continue to visit
because I'm uploading about ten pages a day between today and the day before
I leave. Here are some highlights:
My children have a web page now, and those asking what do they look like can
now see them (http://www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/aaa.htm") here. As their
pictures get better and more often, and as I start getting more and more of
their handiwork, I'll be posting them as well. Their mother's picture is
there, too...just for those inquiring minds!
I've just about refinished the startup pages for the "Cardinal Council".
I'm going to allow access to it two days before I leave, which is August
2nd. I'll have a "grand opening announcement" on Scouts-L and Arrow-L, so
be looking for it. I stilll need *male faces* and camp photos, especially
those with Scouts in uniforms doing things, to illustrate many of the
Council's employees,Scouters and activities. If you have a *male photo*
(like those found in yearbooks!) that is NOT a famous movie star, sports
star or from the news, please share it with me so that I can finish this up
and move onward to the next project!
The Leaders' Online project is coming along and as soon as I can insure that
the copies of Geoworks GeoPublish are good, I'll post the pages here next.
The Eagletips are also finally here, and many of them can be found
(http://www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/eagtip/eindex.htm) at the Eagletips area
NOT ALL OF THE EAGLETIPS ARE AVAILABLE THERE!!
Please pay close attention as to how to download the files. They will be
downloaded to your "cache" directory for some reason, with a "corrupted
copy" to the place you want it on your hard drive. I don't know why this is
happening, but it does.
You can, however, view them without the Geoworks coding.
This has been a slow process because I wanted to make sure that the places
where I post the pages up to are NON-COMMERICAL as opposed to the Blackeagle
Services stuff, which MUST go on the webspace allotted to it by America
Online (tm).
I have uploaded a lot of "wisdom", both from me and from others and its now
located within the (http://www.vhm.com/~uscardnl/ississues.htm) issues area.
Hope you like it!! The Scout Laws are now found at Gary Hendra's
(http://www.macscouter.com/) MacScouter web site. He has graciously
allowed for my writings to go there, and I'm happy to help out a GREAT
site!! Please visit and see not just my stuff but everything that he has
available for Scouters (even if the "machine format"... Macintoish...isn't
my favorite platform!! *heheheheee*)
I'm working on bringing back the Geoworks and Windows fonts areas because
folks have been asking for it....I'll get them buttons fixed so that you can
download the most commonly asked-for Geoworks and Windows fonts for your
brochures and flyers and other things!!
Finally, my children are here with me this week, so work will be somewhat
slowed down as I spend time with them and with Jessica before I leave for
first Indy and then Fort Benning and then where ever. I trust that everyone
is having a great summer and as soon as I establish a email account overseas
or restart all of the mailing groups via AOL, I'll be back to join everyone
again more actively around the "virtual fires".
Again, my personal thanks goes toward three gentlemen and great fellow
Scouters: Jon Eidson, our listowner, for allowing me to post and share my
thoughts, feelings and emotions from time to time and to allow me to assist
as many Scouters as I could given the short time I have online; to Joe
"Fox" Nieten, for allowing me the space on your server to share my files
and pages with the rest of the world (more than 500 people have "hit" my
main home page since I've moved it there!) and for the patience in helping
me get it all set up; and to Gary (and Kyna) Hendra, for sharing with you
additional space they have given to my stories and information via their
website. They aren't the only folks with many of my files, but they have
been VERY proactive in asking me to please send them whatever I felt that
other Scouters would be interested in reading/reflecting on.
I'll still run this account, and Jessica will be forwarding mail from here to my
new account until I get things set up right there and until I can receive email
directly from wherever I'm be....so please continue to send me personal mail
to this account as well as to the America Online (tm) account listed below.
Also, please check out the new pages from time to time since I'll be adding
to them as the summer goes onward with regular frequency (about five to ten
pages a week).
Don't forget in whatever you do in Scouting, to please share your
experiences here with those many others that don't have "computers and their
access". Only then, can the overall success of electronic Scouting and this
discussion group in particular can continue, and only then can we continue
to grow as a valuable resource for Scouters and youth leaders worldwide and
as a widening group of people whom are concerned for and care about each
other and the programs we represent!
