Mike Meenehan took a more critical eye at what I stated and
correctly asked me to explain what it is I was trying to say:
(from my previous statement):
>>There seems to be some ways to
>>get around this policy to the betterment of all participants:
Mike stated:
>That last sentence is an unfortunate choice of words. What I think
>you meant to say is "some ways to adhere to this policy" or "some
>ways to implement this policy".
And he's right. What I meant to say was "There seems to be some ways
that Scouters have done to implement the policy to the betterment of
all participants:"
>I don't think you are advocating "getting around" BSA policies are
>you?
No....not at all; just ways to implement the policy that will still allow
Scouters some degree of control over how they will get there and back.
I'll correct my statement this morning through the list...thanks for looking at
my comments with a more critical eye than I did when I wrote it (After all,
isn't that what us Beavers are supposed to do?!?!)
The wording *is* important, and I'm sorry if what I stated sounded like
"let's do this INSTEAD or IN SPITE OF what the BSA says". Instead,
those ideas (and Don Izard's additional ideas, thanks Don!!) are ways to
do what the BSA says (no convoys) while still having a large degree of
control over the way your unit will get to and from a outdoor experience.
Again, thanks Mike M.!!
