Troop 24 of Berkeley, CA, has been continuously chartered since November,
1920. I know it for a fact because I saw all of the recharter papers in
the council file while researching for our anniversary dinner last fall.
We know we're not the oldest in the west because there are two other
Berkeley troops that are older, Troop 5 and Troop 19. And there is a
troop that joined our council when Silverado Area Council merged with
Mount Diablo Council that is even older (don't remember exactly, but
it was the early teens).

The way it comes out printed on the charter is the number of years of
continuous, on-time charter. Miss one year and you start over. For
all four of these troops, there were no missed years. Sorry, Santa Cruz.

Tulsa, you might want to check with Honolulu Troop 1. Saw their T-shirts
at Philmont in '93 claiming also to be continuously chartered since 1910.
