Troop Librarian

I am looking for some ideas for filling out the position of Troop
Librarian. The last few Scouts we've had fill the position seem to
think there is much to do beyond taking the appropriate merit badge
books to summer camp and bringing them back home. While I have
some ideas that I've presented to the past librarians, they haven't
seem to have taken root. So I would like to hear what other troops
consider to be the role of the librarian to make it an Eagle-leadership
position.
