Mike (and Mary)---
I may be a bit late on this since I get my mail in digest form, but if
you can access each site just before your class starts, most browsers will
"cache" the pages on the computer's hard drive. Then, as you go through
your presentation, the pages will be retrieved from your computer, rather
than the web site. This should help speed you through your presentation.
You should also point out to them exactly what you are doing, and maybe
illustrate it by using the "refresh" button so they can see how slow some
web pages do load. This also acts as a final "site check" before your
presentation. Some web sites change URL's about as often as I change my
socks (well....maybe not quite that often <grin>).

Another thing I like to point out is that there is a lot of
information available even without fancy Web browser software. Our local
library has dial-up access into their card catalog and also provides text
based web access through "LYNX." Many communities offer some sort of
"free-net" access. The only equipment needed to access this type of site
is a modem and a VT-100 terminal (or a PC acting like a VT-100 terminal).
The terminal program that comes with Windows works just fine.

You may also want to do some screen prints of some of the web pages for
handouts. Unless you have some projection or large screen equipment,
what you are showing won't be visible from the back of a room. Include a
few of the more popular URL's and FTP sites, but don't go overboard
listing every pack or troop page you can find. Many of these will be
gone or changed in a couple of months. Point them to a list of links,
such as MacScouter or the Virtual Campsite and the FAQ repository and
let them find their own favorites. (Of course, by all means, give them
instructions for subscribing to SCOUTS-L!!!!!)

This got longer than I intended it to be... <exit soapbox mode>
