A tid bit for those interested
while watching yet another program on the olympics, heard the following:
" (or pretty close to one) at the 1908 Olympics in London, as the
participants filed into the stadium, each country in turn dipped their
national flag to the King, except the U.S. The flag bearer when
questioned stated This Flag dips to no earthly king"
possibly the establishment of a great tradition...
