Thus the beret, if official, could be worn with the uniform with which =

was official, but not with today's uniform.
I presently hold in my hand a copy of the 1988 printing of the Boy Scout =
Handbook. This handbook was printed well after the new tan/olive =
uniforms were being used. (I don't remember exactly when the uniform =
changed but I do know that we were wearing them at the 1981 Jamboree.) =
On pages 50 & 51 there are pictures of the new uniform being worn with =
all 4 of the hat styles including the beret & field cap. Since the =
uniform has not changed since then, I would assume that these hats are =
all still official.
