The Orders are Here!!

(no name) ((no email))

Hi Scouters and sorry for the crossposting!!

The mailman has delivered and I've signed for my mobilization instructions.
I'm now officially activated for duties associated with "Operation Determined
Effort", and am to report to my Reserve Command on August 4 with my
personal clothing and military stuff. According to the orders attached, I
am due to be somewhere in the European theater between August 8 and
August 13. Enroute, I will be going to Fort Benning, Georgia, for two to
three days of "final clearing" which for me, will include another medical
screening in view of my previous problems (so Dee, I'll be able to be
there to at least try and see what I can do for your Pack!).

Jessica will not be going, and as we've talked about the night before last,
will remain here in Henderson until sometime after the December holidays.
Hopefully, I'll be on leave during that time, and we've agreed to find a
home in Bowling Green and to move there before I go back to complete the
tour. Jessica has considered Columbia, Missouri; Evansville, Indiana and
two other places but we finally settled on Bowling Green because we
"were the happiest there" and because "we have friends there". It has been
extremely difficult for Jessi to make friends here in this rather scenic little
town because of her work scheldule and because it's a small town (whose
"streets roll up" at 7pm each day). On top of this, because we had no
car for about four months, it made it really difficult to get around town after
7 each day.

Are there any Scouters here living in Columbia, Missouri or along the
Interstates to get there (Interstate 64 and 70)?? Jessica and I will be
taking our
second "honies trip" (not really a honeymoon but longer than a regular
vacation) from July 3-7 to Columbia and points enroute and back. On
July 8, we are going to stand by while the first half of the "rest of the unit"
departs from Indianopolis for Fort Benning, GA. Why Columbia?? It was
Jessi's decision to go there, and we want to see "what we've given up
for the confort of old friends".

Yes, I'm bringing patches and as always, a Scout shirt or two for the road
trip, so I'll be prepared for whatever is going on....but I'm also bringing
shorts
and teeshirts and a suit and tie.

If you're on the way to or from (and although you've probably sent me a
"if you're in the neighborhood note", please send it again because I've lost
just about everything before the first part of May 1996) Columbia, please
let me or Jessica know *privately please*.

Jessi can be reached at jessica@juno.com or jessica@midwest.net
Of course, you know how you can reach me...*heheheheeee*
Thanks for the attention, and again, sorry for the crossposting, but I
wanted to insure that I reach all of my Scouting friends as Jessica is doing the
same for the lists that she reads and participates in (less this one).
