I have waited too long to reply to this, but I wanted to see some of the
responses first, and then I got busy and didn't get a chance to sign on for
almost 2 weeks. I have always regretted that there isn't an easy or standard
way to announce an adoption. Especially with the adoption of our last 2
children. Michael's, 8, and Kayleen's, 7, adoptions were finalized just last
Apr. 26, almost 2 years from the time that we first heard about them. We've
been through this 3 times now for a total of 4 adopted children. But John and
Jason were adopted as infants. Since we were in the Air Force at the time, we
placed announcements similar to the standard birth announcement in our
hometown (Iowa) papers, but not the local papers.
However this time we felt it inappropriate at the time of placement as t
his
one started out as a Fost-Adopt. And with them not being infants and the long
time frame meaning most everyone already knew them, it didn't seem right to do
it in Apr.
We do celebrate Adoption Days in our family. The older 2 have always th
ought
of it as having 2 birthdays. I would think that the family in your pack would
be touched by your kind thought to recognize this very happy event. Please
forward our congratulations to them. Adoption is a very beautiful thing.
