A successful summer camp

My oldest just returned from his first summer camp at Camp
Cherokee on the Clements Scout Reservation, located in
Athens, Texas and operated by the Circle 10 Council in
Dallas.
He completed the "First year camper" program, the Swimming
and Canoeing merit badges, and the Mile Swim. While I was
unable to attend the entire week, I was able to drive a load
of scouts out to camp and then return on Friday night, with
my wife, for the Order of the Arrow campfire. Very good
memories.
I was surprised at the way my son's eyes widened a little
when I placed my Vigil Honor sash over my shoulder. I know
that he'd seen it before but, over the week he'd made the
transition from child to Boy Scout and had learned some new
things.
My highest complements to the Camp and Council. A very
beautiful and well executed camping program. I commend them
to the list.
