Jan Harold Brunvand's book, "Curses! Broiled Again!", deals extensively
with the "Blue Star" and other urban legends. It's highly unlikely that
there is a problem with LSD-laced tattoos being distributed to our
children. However, if this legend discourages children from taking
things from strangers, then I guess it serves a useful purpose.

Brunvand's books are very interesting. The other 3 that I have are
"The Vanishing Hitchhiker", "The Choking Doberman", and "The Mexican
Pet". It's great fun to have someone tell you about something that
really happened to their wife's brother-in-law, and to open one of these
books and show them the exact same story. If anyone knows of any other
urban legend books, please send them to richc@wagnerpa.com.
