Tom Grim introduced himself (something we encourage EVERYONE out
there, whether or not you wish to "contribute", so please do!!) and stated:

There's a lot of disagreement here, but we've learned over time how to
disagree with what was SAID and not with the PERSON SAYING it.
That provides one of the largest differences between our daily discussions
around the world and other mailing groups, which sometimes mire in
endless "you said-I say" arguments.
We've also allowed for those that have differing points of view or differing
opinions on "what should be done" or "how it's to be done" to post here.
Not everyone will use the "group's consensous" and would rather take
EVERYTHING stated here, good, bad or otherwise, and formulate their
OWN decision based on what we've said here. There's a wealth of
experiences, and not everything that has worked out HAS to be
exactly the way the "program says". A good example of this was our
discussion a while back about the way we utilize Tiger Cub groups...
somehow the way we "envisioned it" is going to be the way the BSA's
Cub Scout Division wants us to use our new Tiger Cub Dens and
leadership. So, please, even if you have a different way of doing things...
yeah, it may be wrong and there's plenty of us that will tell you WHY;
but by all means, add to our collective education and tell us why YOU
feel the way that YOU do things works for you and your unit or
group.
Don't feel bad about "chiming in late". While we have an UNWRITTEN
rule of limiting discussion to ten days, there's NOTHING that keeps you
from bringing additional information to all of us and somehow reopening
discussion again on the topic. The "ten days" only came about because
some of us do get our email as a batch each day, and don't have a lot of
time at work or home to answer all of in one shot.

Please quote where you got the information AND how to subscribe to
us here, if you are "gleening" things for your own usages...no matter what
it is. Our best advertisement is all of us, sharing our information with
those that haven't "caught the computer bug" nor have access to our
list or to computing resources period. A simple "from the Scouts-L
YOUTH PROGRAMS Discussion list" (that "youth programs" is important
...remember, we tend to emphasize the BSA and GSUSA here, but there are
others here from a variety of other youth-serving organizations that are using
many of our ideas, songs, skits, and program information to make THEIR
program the very best it could be!) is enough for a disclaimer; better yet,
the email address of our listserver (listserv@tcubvm.is.tcu.edu) with the
line above provides those that may want to join us the chance to do so!!
