Looks like you have already gotten some good responses. Many districts have
fall camporees and invite Webelos dens to visit. That's a good way to get
a feel for several units. In any case, be sure to visit several and to visit
the better ones at least twice. When cubs make a choice, they should visit
at least once without the rest of the den (or with one or two other Webelos)--
there may be some differences when there is not a group!
As a courtesy, always contact the SM before you show up. One local SM doesn't
tell the scouts that Webelos are coming--you get whatever is that night's
program. I like the idea. But, contacting SM lets you avoid the pot luck
court of honor!!!
Another local troop invites Webelos dens to visit their weekend camps. They
plan some special activity for the Webelos to enjoy and then have a game or
two. Usually serve a light treat but no meals and no camping by Webelos.
