Susan:
A commerciaal harness would have to break THREE SEPARATE INDEPENDENT LOOPS
to fail entirely. A properly tied and WITNESSED swiss seat would have to
break TWO INDEPENDENTLY TIED LOOPS to fail completely. What is more, USE
OF THE SHOLDER BOWLINE IS UNSAFE.; IT CAUSES INJURIES!!!!!!!!! It also
circumvents the recomendation that a climber tie their own harness under
the watchfull eye of a wittness as it is nearly imposible for one to tie
a TIGHT sholder bowline on one's own torso as the position of the arms
required to do this flexes the mussles that you are tying around, making
the loop loose unless tied by the other person. Also, the sholder tie
seriously effects climbing stability and the ability to see the breaking
ring. We have been climbing for 20 years. Untill using the sholder
bowline, WE had no climbing injuries beyond an occasional abrasion or
muscle strain. UNTILL we used the shoolder bowline. Thanks to this
"SAFETY IMPROVEMENT", Our record is now tarnished. It makes me, my
assistants and my crew angry. It should NEVER have been recomended.
THESE ARE NOT MODIFICATIONS FOR COMFORT but rather a REFUSAL to follow
a recomendation that is an OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. TO DO OTHERWISE WOULD
BE NEGLIGENT!

By the way, yes we do use separate Ds for the safety and the main. That
is what is required and That is what we do.

Sorry to become irate, but Our troops leadership has learned a lesson
from this. We will no longer be able to trust National recomendations
as being thoroughly resarched and proven. At least in this case, THEY
COULD NOT HAVE BEEN!

Thanks for your concern.
