Re: Name Plates

One thing I have noticed over the last year & a half is that people
look at my name plate, then start talking about Scouting on the World
Wide Web (since most of the Scouters I meet are local and I have put
up an unofficial web site for the council and lodge). I have also
recognized a few nametags myself from InterNet Scouting.

But actually, I wear a name plate because I have a terrible time
remembering names and putting them with faces unless I see it in
writing. A name tag is an ice breaker, since you can start off
talking with someone right away as you already know them by name.
That's why we use them at training programs and mixers.

Some name tags have some extra info. I often wear a name plate left
over from my days as a member of the High Adventure Training team. A
question about that will lead into a discussion about high adventure
training and why someone might want to take it. I can hardly wait
till I get my Jamboree 97 name plate. Folks then might start telling
me what to expect, based on their experiences.
