I have hiked the high peaks area many times. The most awe inspiring hike
is a hike along avalanch lake. The trail is made up of ladders and
catwalks. It is also very beautiful. My suggestion is to backpack from
andirak loj and go to indian falls. From here take a day hike up marcy.
The next day pack off to lake Colden, another beautiful area. Camp there
for the night, then hike back to the loj via avalanch lake. I have done
this twice (once each way) with scouts ranging from 13-50, and have had
few problems. The only problem is that it is a lot of boulder climbing.
Any questions, just write me at Rlewis3@ic3.ithaca.edu.
