Everyone seems to so freely use the word bandwidth, but who
actually knows what it means? Maybe you consider bandwidth to be use of
resources, but what I believe it traditionally refers to is the traffic
between WANS hooked together to form the backbone....and if that is
right, the biggest users of bandwidth are video conference users, audio
conference users, www users (especially them), everything but e-mail...if
I am correct, e-mail is one of the last priorities of information
exchange between hosts. So, let's be honest, we are not trying to save
bandwidth (if we are, then we are not accomplishing much since we don't
use much anyways, as I believe the definition of bandwidth is) rather we
personally reply to people to keep from irritating other members of the
list, and to also avoid getting flamed. Let's state it how it is, if you
are truly interested in "saving bandwidth" then don't "surf" with your
www browser, don't use high end services such as video conferencing, and
gopher, and ftp...I could go on, but I think a clarification is in
order.
