Please check with your local council before proceeding much further. There
are rather strict and Byzantine guidelines on fundraising in this manner.

We have a fellow in our Pack who works for Mobil Oil, which graciously makes
grants to the 501(C)(3) organizations to which employees volunteer at least
40 hours.

Despite the fact that our sponsoring organization clearly qualifies, there
are rules in Scouting that require that this grant NOT go to the unit -- it
can only go to the council, which cannot then send it to the unit.

There is no legal reason for this that I can find -- it's just the rules.

I'd like to know if anyone else has different experience . . .
