In reply to Olan's post about false accusations:
Protection of adults with 2 deep etc., is a part of the
Youth Protection Program. YPP in scouting is not the
only area that problems with false accusations are a problem.
Just ask any teacher that is a detention room montior etc.
Part of the aults training and responsibility today is to
be trained to KNOW how to avoid situations where the adult
is unprotected or vulnerable!
Once the accusations are made, it is hard to ever recover,
even if they are eventually proven false. The best 'defense'
is to prevent vulnerable situations. Always have another adult
with you, and able to see and hear what is going on. Make sure
the youth also know that another adult is always a 'witness' etc.
Unfortunatly the adult must be aware how to protect ourselves
as well as the youth.
