G'day all,
here in Australia, we present the badge to the cub as soon as they have
earnt it. Ussually that night (we have some on hand...) However, if for any
chance it is one we dont have or have run out of, we will wait untill the
following week and then present it to the child in question.
This way, I have found, it means that the others see the Cub earning their
badge as well as the instant recongition thing. It can delay the closing of
a meeting by a few minuates, but by this stage the parents are in the hall
and they can see a badge presentation. This allows them a chance to see a
Child being awarded as well as a chance to learn about the different badges
that are available.
Also saves hassles when parents come in three of four months later and say
"But my little so and so earnt that way back and you havent givcen it to
them yet." I have seen some arguements over badges that have been earnt and
not presented. Luckly, no one has leved that at me yet (and hopefully wont!)
