"Whittlin' Jim" was W. Ben Hunt who in addition wrote a BL column on Indian
Lore under another name (I cannot recall, but perhaps Gray Owl or some
such). One of his books on indian crafts is available at most Tandy
leather/crafts stores. His "Indian Crafts and Lore" was published as a
"Golden Book" and WAS for many years available through Scout suppliers (not
any more).
