Alvin asked:
>Our unit is about to have our first Eagle Scout. Help!

No, the word should be "HOORAY!"

*heheheheee*

Alvin, there's a wealth of information that you can get from
our archives. Called "EagleTips", it's a set of 28 (with two more being put
together and posted there soon!) files, full
of advice and information from all of us that have been involved, organized
or even participated in the Eagle Scout
process. I edit the postings, deleting only the header and
signature information, so that you get EXACTLY what was
stated (no summary, no "I believe"). You can use the information to decide
how the Board of Review should be
conducted, the kinds of questions to ask, and even where to
have it at.

The package is located at our archives location (listserv@tcuvbm.is.tcu.edu)
by GET EAGTIP $ PACKAGE.
You can also ask for an index of ALL of our archived items by stating INDEX
SCOUTS-L. Additionally, you can request one, two, or several of the files
by using the index, and deciding which ones you want, and follow the
instructions listed on the posting which will be returned after you made the
request.

Remember, you have to request it from the LISTSERVER, NOT from THIS LIST.
Make sure that you don't use a signature file
when you make the request...the automated server won't know
what to do with the additional information!!

I've also printed those same files, formatted and pre-punched for those that
do not want to download all 27 files. Write Jessica
(jessica@hcc-uky.campus.mci.net) and ask her about the Eagle Tips package,
with or without the binder.

Finally, all of the files, along with GeoPublish, a FREE desktop publishing
tool (which was used to create the files) and some
Eagle clipart, will be found at the Leaders' Online website.
I can't announce the site address yet, because I'm still uploading
everything to it and haven't finished testing it to insure that everything
will work. I will make a formal announcement, however, here on Scouts-L when
everything is once again ready!

The EagleTips are a great resource and copies were sent to the BSA's Program
Group and shared at Philmont as one way that many Scouters can "share the
wealth of knowledge" via this
thing called the Internet.

Let us know how the process is going, if you have followups that the
information didn't answer, and of course, when the Court of Honor is scheduled!!
