One time two years ago, my troop was staying at Hocking Hills
State Park in Ohio. This park is frequently used by scout troops
in the area. Anyway, there were other troops there, and they had a
battered flag that needed to be retired. We followed the basic cerceremony for r
etiring a flag, but we cut it into strips and layed
them into the fireplace. this way, they will not flare up into your
hands if you dangle them by the fire. Hope this helps.
